What the state says the job is
This is administrative and technical work in determining regulatory compliance and providing consultive services in the operation of state and political subdivision correctional facilities. The employee in this class is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and administering procedures for the review and evaluation of state, county, and municipal correctional and detention facilities to assure that the care and custody to inmates, physical plant development and maintenance, and qualitative and quantitative rehabilitation and supportive programs comply with laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
Examples of the work
PERFORMED: Plans, develops, and implements, procedures for the review and evaluation of state, county, and municipal correctional and detention facilities for adherence to laws, regulations, policies, and standards pertaining to the care and custody of inmates, physical plant development and maintenance, and rehabilitative and supportive programs. Participates with local administrators and officials in planning and implementing improved inmate treatment programs and operating practices. Reviews and approves architectural drawings of new construction and major renovations of county and municipal correctional and detention facilities.
Minimum qualifications
One year of demonstrated professional supervisory or administrative experience in the field of corrections, law enforcement, social work, or public administration.
