What the state says the job is
This is professional educational and administrative work directing the operations of the Correction Education Division in the Bureau of Reentry Coordination, Department of Corrections. The employee in this job is responsible for planning, developing, directing, and coordinating the statewide program of education for adjudicated youth and adults. Work involves responsibility for formulating program policies and procedures; developing program guidelines and standards to ensure an integrated and consistent approach to the delivery of education services; and advising senior staff concerning the impact of proposed legislation and regulations. An important aspect of this position involves providing statewide leadership on correction education programs and collaborating with professional departmental staff to develop and implement innovative program goals and objectives.
Examples of the work
• Directs, plans, and coordinates the development and delivery of education programs for adjudicated youth and adults. • Develops, recommends, and implements correction education program policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. • Provides guidance to agency leadership on legislative policy proposals and regulations for education programs for adjudicated youth and adults. • Directs the organization of in-service education activities and consultative services in correction education. • Directs and participates in the preparation of agency wide corrections education plans and amendments.
Minimum qualifications
• Seven years of professional experience in the field of education, including three years in an administrative or supervisory capacity, and a bachelor’s degree in education; or • An equivalent combination of professional experience and training including three years of administrative or supervisory experience in the field of education.
