What the state says the job is
This is supervisory manufacturing work in the production of hosiery and underwear at a state correctional institution factory. An employee in this class is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the work of subordinate foremen and the training of inmate workers in the methods and techniques involved in the production of a variety of hosiery and underwear for men, women, and children. Employee is also responsible for the custody and discipline of inmates assigned to the factory. Work is received in the form of work orders. Supervision is received from an administrative superior through periodic conferences and an analysis of production reports.
Examples of the work
Plans, coordinates, and supervises the work of subordinate foremen and inmate workers in the methods and techniques involved in the operation of circular knitting machines and sewing machines in the manufacturing of hosiery and underwear for men, women, and children. Develops product specifications and establishes production goals and sets priorities. Analyzes records and reports and makes periodic inspections to insure that the proper quality and quantity of goods are produced. Supervises subordinate foremen and inmate workers and participates in the general maintenance and repair of machinery.
Minimum qualifications
One year as a Corrections Knitting Mill Foreman 1; or Four years of experience in the manufacturing of hosiery or underwear, including two years of supervisory experience and graduation from high school; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
