What the state says the job is
This is professional educational and administrative work directing the activities of the Education Division of the Hiram G. Andrews Center (HGAC), Department of Labor and Industry. The employee in this job is responsible for establishing education policies, curriculum, and standards of performance to meet HGAC educational objectives. Work includes directing educational activities to meet the goals of the program and directing the accreditation processes for the Commonwealth Technical Institute (CTI). Supervision is exercised over instructor supervisors and clerical staff. Policies and procedures are established in consultation with the Center Director to conform to Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and HGAC goals and the mandates of accrediting and licensing agencies.
Examples of the work
Develops and maintains specialized associate’s degree, diploma, and remedial programs in compliance with the standards of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges, and financial aid programs. Implements and directs, through subordinate supervisors, the career and technical occupational training programs and the remedial pre-vocational training programs. Assesses the need for course revisions in order to develop HGAC educational programs that will accommodate the employment needs of Pennsylvanians with significant disabilities.
Minimum qualifications
Two years of professional educational supervisory experience in a vocational education program approved by a state Department of Education.
