What the state says the job is
This is advanced professional educational program work in the development, improvement and evaluation of technology education throughout the Commonwealth. The employee in this job is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for the Department of Education's statewide program of advisory services in establishing, developing, improving or expanding technology education standards and programs in Commonwealth elementary and secondary schools. Technology education prepares students to work in such technology-related areas as computer-aided design, robotics, lasers, electronics and hydroponics.
Examples of the work
Develops objectives and definitive goals for technology education in the Commonwealth consistent with department priorities and objectives. Develops and modifies the short and long range goals for technology education to meet the needs of schools. Develops and interprets policies and guidelines in technology education for the basic education community and makes recommendations for changes in policy and standards. Plans and coordinates the development and evaluation of statewide technology education standards, projects, studies and programs within basic education.
Minimum qualifications
One year as a Technology Education Advisor 1; or Five years of professional experience in technology education, including three years of experience in public schools and two years of experience in the development and implementation of technology education curricula or programs; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes three years of experience in public schools and two years of experience in the development and implementation of technology education curricula or programs.
