What the state says the job is
This is responsible supervisory work in the operation of an institutional, college, highway maintenance district, or departmental storeroom. An employee in this class is responsible for the receipt, storage, distribution, and recordkeeping activities in a storeroom operation; and is responsible for the supervision of a group of employees performing varied clerical and manual stores and recordkeeping work in one or more phases of the storeroom operation whose work is classifiable to the Stock Clerk l or Stock Clerk 2 level. Work may include responsibility for the receiving and recordkeeping functions for perishable foods in a central receiving operation but does not include responsibility for the proper storage of these items.
Examples of the work
Inspects quantity and quality of food and other stores received to see that they conform to prescribed specifications; accepts or rejects goods as indicated; approves invoices for payment. Prepares or reviews requisitions for stock replacement. Plans and supervises the work of several other employees in the proper receiving, storing, and issuing of materials. Develops efficient storage methods, including the allocation and arrangement of bins and storage spaces. Maintains or supervises proper maintenance of records incident to periodic inventories, receipt of goods, and issuance of supplies. Confers with administrative superiors on replacement problems and new purchases.
Minimum qualifications
Three years of experience in stores control work, including one year of supervisory experience with responsibility for the operation of a small storeroom; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a high school or vocational school; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
