What the state says the job is
Performs habilitation or rehabilitation therapy assistance work in providing therapeutic rehabilitation activities to clients.
Examples of the work
Instructs and assists clients in therapeutic activities, including occupational, physical, speech and hearing, music, recreation, or education therapies under the supervision of a registered therapist. Prepares for therapeutic activities by setting up equipment, instruments, or materials. Observes patients during treatment, records results, and reports observations to designated medical personnel. Transports patients to and from treatment areas. Assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing therapeutic activity programs for individuals or groups of clients. May perform administrative duties such as the maintenance of medical records and schedules. Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
Experience in therapy work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent, supplemented by courses in one of the recognized therapeutic activities is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Special requirements
May require registration in one of the therapy specialties as required by Texas law.
