What the state says the job is
This is supervisory work overseeing facility design, construction, and maintenance and repair contracts for all buildings and facilities within the Department of Transportation's Engineering Districts. An employee in this class supervises lower level Transportation Facility Administrators in the oversight of contractor or consultant adherence to all building design, construction, maintenance, and repair operations within the eastern or western region of the state. Work involves strategic planning and oversight of the acquisition and distribution of fiscal, material, and manpower resources to provide for preventive, operational, and emergency building maintenance.
Examples of the work
Supervises lower level Transportation Facility Administrators in the planning and coordination of the services associated with building design, maintenance, construction, and repair for all facilities within a Transportation Engineering District. Approves or disapproves and prioritizes facility projects within the region based on available fiscal, material and human resources. Reviews and negotiates the annual and special budgetary requirements for the region's maintenance requirements. Works with Central Office fiscal staff to forecast and establish budgets and funds. Supervises the administration of agreements, evaluates and responds to building occupant or consultant complaints.
Minimum qualifications
One year as a Transportation Facility Administrator 2; or Seven years of experience in the design, construction, maintenance or repair of buildings and building systems, or buildings and grounds or building systems and grounds, which includes two years in an administrative capacity having responsibility for contract compliance and budget oversight; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
