What the state says the job is
This is lead work over a small group of laborers performing manual work. An employee in this class lays out and participates in the work of laborers as a lead worker responsible for the efficient accomplishment of assigned tasks. Tasks assigned are ordinarily of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature. Lead work involves assigning work, providing assistance, instructing workers, and reviewing the work for adherence to standards. Difficult or technical work decisions are normally referred to a supervisor. Detailed assignments are received in all but routine tasks, and the work is closely checked during progress and upon completion.
Examples of the work
Leads laborers in routine building or road construction, renovations and/or repair, or buildings and grounds maintenance work. Leads laborers planting trees in reforestation work and planting and cultivating crops on game preserves. Operates a light truck to transport crew and to perform duties. Instructs and otherwise assists those being directed. Keeps time records and develops basic records. Performs related work as required.
Minimum qualifications
Two years of experience in performing manual labor on construction or maintenance work; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
