What the state says the job is
This is supervisory and advanced professional environmental engineering work in an environmental regulatory, conservation or construction program area. An employee in this job supervises a staff of professional employees engaged in the preparation or review of plans, specifications and permit applications; the development, design, review, financing or construction of environmental projects; the management of a statewide regulatory program; or the provision of statewide environmental engineering and technical support services.
Examples of the work
Supervises or manages a section that may include geologists, environmental scientists, environmental specialists, engineering technicians, engineering inspectors, and biologists, in addition to engineers. Directs the review of plans, permit applications and permit modifications to determine conformance with Commonwealth laws and Departmental regulations, to assess the adequacy of equipment, control devices or control measures to be installed, and to establish operating conditions that are protective of the environment and of human health and safety.
Minimum qualifications
Two years as an Environmental Engineer or an Air Quality Engineer; or Five years of professional engineering experience in environmental protection or in environmental project development, design or construction.
