What the state says the job is

This is entry level training work in construction techniques, tools, materials, and processes used in the building trades. An employee in this job participates in an 18 month structured and on-the-job training program designed to develop an understanding and competence in building trades practices, to include carpentry, masonry, roofing, tin smithing, locksmithing, and painting. The training program will be designed for a specific building trade or trades in which an agency is targeting placement. An employee initially performs a limited range of duties with instructions, to include preventative maintenance, routine repairs and installations, and assisting with large or complex assignments. Work assignments become increasingly more complex and are performed with greater independence and variety as learning progresses and knowledge and proficiency are acquired.
