What the state says the job is
Administers written motor vehicle driver's license examinations and road test examinations for Class A, B, C, D and M Driver's Licenses; and performs other duties as required.
Examples of the work
Provides information and explains procedures to the general public. Reviews and determines eligibility of applicants for a commercial driver's license (CDL). Examines applicants for a CDL by means of administering the pre-trip inspection, basic skills, and road test to ascertain adequate skill level for operation of vehicles belonging to all classifications of commercial motor vehicles. Reviews and determines eligibility of applicants for driver's license. Examines applicants by means of oral, written, performance, and vision tests. Evaluates the ability of applicants with disabilities and recommends operator restrictions to compensate for disabilities to insure safe operation of vehicles.
Minimum qualifications
EDUCATION: High school graduate. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of experience as a licensed driver. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
Special requirements
Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license and a valid commercial license permit (CLP) or valid commercial driver's license (CDL) prior to employment in this job classification.
